Pinch me, because I still can’t believe I’m part of Buzzfeed’s piece on the 15 street style pics serving looks during New York Fashion Week, and that my image it’s on Getty Images! This is my third time attending the shows, and while I knew this outfit was great, I did not imagine it would be a total knockout.
I found this dress two months ago at Ms. Phay’s Closet Pop Up Shop, during July’s Fort Lauderdale ArtWalk. That day, I went to the art walk to buy what I would wear during NYFW, and the moment I laid eyes on this dress, it was love at first sight. The first thing that caught my eyes were the oversized sleeves, and it’s unbelievable price of $10! This dress had the pizazz and uniqueness I was looking for, and although it was quite big on me, there is no problem a belt can’t fix.
I choose a slim black belt, I already owned, which worked perfectly and gave the illusion I had a two-piece outfit on (side note, i switched the belt to a gold one later on the day). For the shoes, I choose a multicolored heel I also owned from the Prabal Gurung X Target collection. These shoes were the perfect match for the dress since it pulled all the colors from the sleeves together.
I finished the look with the green clutch with patches, paired with a gold chain link necklace and a flower cocktail ring.
As you can see, putting this look together was inexpensive and fun to assemble. Just remember to be open to thrift shops and to always dig through your closet before you buy something new. Never be afraid of wearing something more than once, because by putting it together with different items, it always turns into something new. The bottom line is to always remember that fashion is fun and the best way to express yourself.
