Spring came and went and the summer days rapidly approached. The temperatures are high, the sun is shining bright, and this season’s trends are inherently upbeat. The spirit of the 80’s continues to infiltrate in unique interpretations (think of jumbo frills, open shoulders, and clouds of tulle) Colors are as loud as they have been with scarlet, fuchsia, yellow and orange. Stripes and florals are having a major moment too, and they are back with a vengeance.
However, the most important factor this upcoming season is that YOU make the rules. This is the perfect time to experiment and take mix and matching to a whole new level. Whether you want to mix eighties ruffles with slim trousers or dress in florals from head to toe, this is your moment.
Summer 2017 trends are here to shape your wardrobe into a happy happy place.
Color Me Pretty
From left to right: Balenciaga, Valentino, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Max Mara, Roland Mouret.
Summertime is a synonym for color, and this season, bright colors played a big part at the runway. I know color can be a bit intimidating, but these iterations are an instant success. Valentino, Balenciaga, and Max Mara brought the bright colors to the runway and to your closet.
Floral Frenzy
From left to right: Chloe, Moschino, Balenciaga, Erdem, Dolce & Gabbana
If there is anything scary, is floral prints. If they are not done the right way, you can quickly look like a 3D garden. However, designers like Moschino, Balenciaga, and Dolce & Gabanna proved us there is no wrong way to do florals. All of these designers showcased head to toe flower prints in a perfect way.
80’s Redoux
From left to right: Isabel Marant, Balenciaga, Rodarte, Saint Laurent, Moschino
The 80’s theme has been imposed for the past two seasons, and it’s not going anywhere this summer. Take a cue from Rodarte, Isabel Marant, and Saint Laurent, and prepare to bring our the puffy shoulders, tulle punk skirts and paper bag waists.
Mix and Match
From left to right: Gucci, Dolce & Gabanna, Miu Miu, Chanel, Altazurra
Mixing prints is not for the faint of heart, and this summer season you have the chance to be as bold as you want. This is the season where taking risks are a must, and where mixing patterns will be part of your everyday looks.
Striping Me Crazy
From left to right: Mulberry, Alice & Olivia, Mary Kantrazou, Delpozo
Whether horizontal, vertical, chevron or a mix of everything, stripes are the golden rule this season. While designers like Delpozo used horizontal stripes on oversized palazzo pants, Alice & Olivia applied a mix of vertical and horizontal stripes to summery dresses.
